DC Road Trip

This weekend we took a quick little weekend vacation to Washington DC! What i love most about living on the East Coast is that every other state around us is so close! Back west we have to drive at least 4 hours to get into another state. After the husbands worked saturday morning we packed up the car and hit the road for DC!! We went with our friends Lacey and Joshua (best travel buddies ever). None of us had been there before so it was an adventure! The drive wasn't too bad...Hunter wanted to drive 3 1/2 hours straight which just doesn't work with my tiny bladder. So we got him to stop once to go pee...in a DISGUSTING gas station bathroom. Yuck. We got stuck in some traffic right outside of the city so that made it a little longer..but we eventually made it around dinner time to our hotel! Which was SUPER nice and had a metro station in it (josh got us a sweet deal).

We were starving when we got there so we got on the metro to get down by the national mall and find some food! Well of course, expecting everything around there to be delicious we picked probably the worst restaurant haha and our waiter didn't speak very good english.  It became the joke of the trip. But hey, we were hungry. That night we walked to the Washington Monument and then down to the World Warr 2 monument and the Lincoln Memorial! Super cool and so pretty with the sun going down!

i just love how its right in the middle of Hunter's head haha

then we got smart and rented these bikes to ride around town! as soon as Lacey and i got our bikes we were off and out of there! haha we might have lost our husbands for a minute...

i almost broke in and asked to use President Obamas bathroom i had to go so bad. White House was prettttyyyy.

Hunter was our little map man. We had to trek to get to frozen yogurt. Through a street of clubs and drunk people...thought i was going to die for a block or two. Then we finally rode through Georgetown to this cute little frozen yogurt shop! Hit the spot.

We got back to the hotel late that night and i had 3 huge blisters (luckily they healed by the next morning) but we were all so tired!!

Day 2

First stop- Arlington Cemetery. Let me just first say how fetching HOT this day was. Like literal sweat stains on my pants and sweat dripping down our faces. But this place was very cool...and spiritual. There were SO many head stones. Lacey and I would do anything to walk in the shade of the trees hahaha. Our favorite part was the Tomb of the Unknown Solider.

Then we made our way to more museums...the Museum of Air and Space, the Archives (my favorite), and the National Museum of Natural History.

We found this rock made of "crandallite" from Utah. We thought it was cool.

Such a fun little vacation! I can't wait to go back to the museums we missed and learned more about our country!
